OTHER PERSPECTIVES: Daily Thunder
PREVIOUSLY, THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER...were unable to take advantage of two missed free throws from Jason Terry with four seconds left and lost 99-98 at Dallas on Friday night. The Thunder rebounded to blow out Miami 98-80 at home on Saturday led by Kevin Durant's 36 points on 18 shots (11-15 2PTFGA, 3-3 3PTFGA, 5-6 FTA). Durant has scored at least 30 points in five straight games and at least 25 points in 14 straight games.
Oklahoma City's next win will match their total from last season. They're on pace for 47* wins and a playoff spot in the West. The rebuilding efforts are either on a very aggressive schedule or ahead of schedule. This is a good team. Their 10-9 road record is the equal of the Hawks' mark on the road and Oklahoma City's outscoring their opponents on the road by a larger margin than are the Hawks.
*That's in the second year of Oklahoma City's rebuilding plan. The Hawks, in year five of their rebuilding plan, are on pace for 52 wins. The lesson: using the second pick of the draft on a franchise player is beneficial as is not wasting a top-5 pick in the next draft.
Consider this an open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game (but pre-recap) thoughts.

This is year three of thunder rebuilding, not 2.
The Sonics weren't trying to win in 2007-08 any more than the Hawks were in 2004-05, hence two and five years of rebuilding respectively. Both franchises thoroughly demolished themselves first.
Well the Hawks are on pace to win 50 plus games and the Thunder are where we were 3 years ago-fighting for the last playoff spot.
So the rebuilding plans are just about the same.Despite our draft blunders.
